my take on the 2009 superbowl ads
so i might be a bit late on the uptake – but this is my post about this year’s super bowl ads.
if i could sum up this entire post in one word it would be: lame.
(don’t worry – i’ll sum it up in one word at the end, for real)
before i get to my favorite (well, officially, at least) i’m going to tell you the ones i didn’t like (and while that may be all of them, i will pick them apart, one-by-one… because this is my blog and i can).
i thought the worst by far (aside from cash4gold – i’m not even going there, props on affording that commercial, though, guys) were the budweiser commercials. if i wanted to see a clydesdale trot around for 30 seconds straight (longest 30 seconds of my life), i’d go to a farm. if i wanted to hear clydesdales talk, then i’d probably do some drugs. the point here, is that i definitely don’t want to hear clydesdales talk. the whole assigning voices to animals thing creeps me out if not executed properly… and budweiser, you FAIL. sorry, guys. seeing more than one was especially excruciating – but gave me some time to switch to animal planet to watch the puppy bowl.
i was also totally unimpressed by ge’s commercial (that’s airing every 10 minutes now…) – decent, but annoying.
maybe i lied about the one-by-one thing – this is getting old, because i have the same thing to say about all the ads i didn’t like:when, on average, a 30-second spot costs about $3M – why aren’t your commercials FABULOUS?!
i just don’t get it.
so my favorite was teleflora’s commercial. until just now (when i looked it up) i had no idea who the commercial was for, though, which is a wee little problem. i could have sworn it was 1-800-flowers or something like that… woops. teleflora had me at “nobody wants to see you naked”.
also impressive, i thought (and no surprise here), was coca cola’s commercial (think: tons of bugs). coke has done a great job with it’s brand as of recent and as per usual; this commercial didn’t disappoint. it was tastefully done, and impeccably executed. made me feel warm and fuzzy – and unlike most of the other commercials, i actually remembered it.
anyway. in an economy like today’s, you’d think that people would be spending their money wisely… and i think that for the most part, they are but when i see the crap that aired during the super bowl i just get annoyed. these companies spent millions on the ad spot itself, plus the cost of production, etc.
whatever. i think you get the point.
this year’s super bowl ads?
lame.
